Compass & Collar is run by Bardistry LLC, doing business as Bardistry Systems. This page says what we collect, why, and who else sees it. We do not sell your information and we do not show ads.
What we Keep
- Your account: your email address and a password, stored by our sign-in provider so that we never see the password itself. If you continue with Apple or Google, we receive the email address they share.
- Your pets: what you enter, such as name, breed, microchip and rabies details, and a photo if you add one. Photos are made smaller and saved again on your device before they are sent, which removes the location your phone stores in them, and only you can see them.
- Your trips: where and when you are flying, and with which airline.
- Your documents: files you upload, kept private to your account and opened only through short-lived links.
- Your reviews: what you write about a vet, the stars, the month you chose and the name you chose to show.
- Your mobile number, if you add one: the number, when you confirmed it, the exact words you agreed to for texts and when, and whether you replied STOP.
- Your subscription, if you start one: whether you are on a trial or the Annual Subscription, its dates, and Stripe’s reference numbers for you and your subscription. To give each person one free trial, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from the email address of anyone who has had one, even after the account is deleted; it cannot be turned back into the address.
- Your notification choices: which reminders and alerts you want, and how, and a record of which reminders we have sent so none is sent twice.
What we Never Keep
- Your location. “Show My Location” in the vet search uses it on that screen only, after you allow it, and never saves or sends it to us.
- Your card number. You enter it on Stripe’s own page; we never see or store it.
Who Else Sees It
- Other customers see only reviews you wrote, after we have checked them, with the name you chose. Nothing else about you or your pets is ever shown to anyone else.
- Supabase stores our database and files, in the United States.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Cloudflare runs the “are you a person” check on sign-in.
- Google receives the town or county you search when you use “Search Google for Vets”, and shows the map.
- USDA receives the state and county you choose in the US vet search; nothing about you.
- Apple and Google handle sign-in if you choose to continue with them.
- Our email service (Resend) delivers reminder and rule-change emails: it receives your email address and the reminder itself, such as your pet’s name, the task and its date.
- Stripe takes payments for the Annual Subscription: it receives your email address, your card and billing address, and what you bought. It may use them to prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy.
- Our text message service (Twilio) sends the code that confirms your number and, once texts start, your reminders and alerts: it receives your mobile number and the text itself.
Your mobile number is never sold, rented or shared with anyone for their own marketing, and neither is your agreement to receive texts. It is used only to send the texts you asked for.
Each of these works for us under its own privacy terms. None of them may use your information for their own advertising through us.
On your Device
We keep small notes on your device to make things easier: that you are signed in, the state and county you last searched, and how many Google searches you have made today. Clearing your browser or deleting the app removes them.
Your Choices
- Change or delete pets, trips, documents and reviews at any time in your account.
- Choose which reminders and alerts we send, and how, or turn them all off, under Notifications on the Account page or screen. Every reminder email also has a link to change this.
- Stop texts at any time by replying STOP to any of our texts, or by removing your number on the Account page or screen.
- Delete your account and everything in it yourself, at any time, from the Account page on the website or the Account screen in the app. It is permanent.
- Ask us for a copy of your information using the contact below.
Children
Compass & Collar is for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
